I wrote this micro-story/ microrrelato while backpacking in the Olympic National Park in July of 2024. It is published in the anthology Los Mecanismos del Instante by ArsCommunis Editorial, a collection of micro-stories published by Spanish-speaking authors in the US and Canada by editor Luis Alejandro Ordóñez, who explains that “Spanish in these latitudes continues to grow, in step with education, immigration, and the daily lives of our people.”
